The loss of my wisdom......again.

Dear all

Last March, I extracted my upper left wisdom tooth. Just now, its my upper right wisdom tooth. Both happened on midnight shifts. March was on way to work, yesterday while on duty. It just had to happened at such hour.

After work this morning, left early and headed to the dentist near my house. Was there early at 9am. Waited till 1030hrs before the nurses informed me that the dentist is not coming in today. Its OK, as I'm in pain, didn't complain. Was referred to the clinic at Sembawang MRT. Once I'm seated at the dentist chair, they worked on me. When its finally done, I was so relieved. The dentist injected once on my lips and 5 or 6 times on the gums. It feels so numb and......swollen. I swear to you all, he injected so much anaesthetic that when he poked my gums with a sharp instrument of his, I felt no pain.

The total costs, $140. $20 for x-ray and $120 for extraction. Went home after that with swollen gums and lips. The numbness lasted till evening when I woke up. Pain has subsided much, no more headache. Yay.

Midnight shift

Dear all

It has been 3 months since I did any midnight shifts. This time round, I'm doing it as a DM with my buddy, Frankie. So tiring. Not the DM duties though, my body just can't take the unearthly hours anymore. Now I realised that I'm no longer young. Gone were the days of doing midnight shifts and still go out in the day. Now after doing any midnight shifts, I really need my bed.

I also realised that as a DM, midnite duties can be very busy. Especially before the closing of the system. Work was not too bad these 2 nights. Had a few cases here and there but still manageable. 12 more days to the end of my cross-training, counting down the days slowly.

I'm now at home in my room listening to the raindrops. Don't know why but the raindrops sounded so peaceful.

LOWEPRO-COMPUDAYPACK

Here is an ideal companion for photographers who are looking for an all-in-one carrying solution for their digital SLR camera and lenses as well as a notebook computer and personal accessories. Featuring trendy urban-styled exteriors and cool, contemporary colors, they are the perfect traveling companion for any photo enthusiast or student.
The backpack's unique triple-compartment design makes organizing equipment and personal gear easy. Its roomy rear compartment safely stores and protects most notebooks of up to 17 inches and there's also room enough for files and documents. The lower compartment is for a digital SLR with attached lens (up to 105 mm f2.8), along with another two to three additional lenses, flash units and other accessories. The third compartment can be used for personal gear and digital accessories. In addition, the backpack has a quick access pocket with a headphone port for an iPod or similar device.
Adjustable padded dividers enable the user to configure the padded compartments for a customized and secure fit and the padded camera compartment also offers a NoDropTM gusset which enables access to equipment without the risk of cameras or lenses falling out of the bag even when on the go.
The top accessory compartment offers several organizer-pockets for safe storage of and quick access to mobile phones, memory cards, PDAs, cables and other digital accessories.
Lowepro's ergonomically-designed contoured shoulder harness with DryFlowTM back ensures excellent weight distribution and ultimate comfort in use. Additional Lowepro cases can be easily added as and when needed via the backpack's provided SlipLockTM loops.
For that added style and personal touch, the user can make his or her own statement with a choice of three distinct colors, namely Burnt Orange, Slate Grey and Leaf Green.
Should I buy it. I already have a Crumpler 7 milion and a laptop bagpack.

Finally, morning shift.

Dear all

Finally on morning shift after like ages doing afternoon shifts. It even got to the extend that I forgot 1 important morning shift duty. No harm though, still managed to do it. In the afternoon, went to GM's office to get my 5 years award and certificate. I was so touched with what my GM said to me. Now I'm wondering if he really mean it. After work, had a craving for starbucks but in the end, me and Frankie headed to coffee bean instead. Same lah, both also coffee.

Past few days, news from family and relatives are a mix of emotions, joy and sadness. My mum, being the usual busybody kept me in the loop, calling me now and then. Imagine, my mum being the field reporter and I'm the editor, hehe.

Yesterday, dearie and me bought new helmets. Yay, finally. Initially thought of only getting 1 for dearie but since the price has dropped drastically, we got 2 instead. And to think that I'm short of money.

Family outing on 4 August confirmed, barbeque cum camping at Changi beach. All I need now is 2 more tents and we are set to go. Can't wait.

And Sadiq, I'll see you on 29 July. My gears are ready, hehe.

7 entries.

Dear all

Today was the day I wished I would not have to go through again. 7 log entries in total. 1 alarm activated, 1 missing item from room, 1 found property, 1 medical assistance, 1 taxi driver dispute with guest and 2 loss and found items in guest rooms. The worst was the missing item from the room. The guest was just so hard to appease. Anyway, I will not elaborate on the entries. Will just take it as a learning experience.

2 good things happened today and will be in my memories. Firstly, theres this very famous malay singer currently staying in-house. She called up and request for my assistance in the room. Hehe, I kept my cool when face to face with her. Even though shes not my kind of favourite singer, shes a legend though. And shes so funny, haha.

Secondly, the medical assistance case. An Indonesian old lady was sick and feeling cold. I attended to her, bringing a hot pack and some ointment to her. Made her a cup of tea as well. Before leaving the room, I covered her with a duvet. Funny thing was, I did not complained at all in my mind . I was sincere in helping her and really wished I could do more. When I stepped out of the room, then only I realised that the old lady reminds me of my grandma. I'm used to caring for my grandma and its like second nature for me.

How I miss the times when I cared for my grandma.

Thank you.

HelmiTron

Dear all

Watched the movie Transformers after work on Sunday with dearie and my friends from work. Superb movie. Ferdaus gave it 5 popcorns out of 5 which I agree. The only complain from Frankie was the action scene being too fast. But let me tell you this, the whole movie was fast. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. For me, its like going through my childhood again. Hehe, I grew up watching the transformers cartoons.
If only I can have a car like Bumblebee.

The action scene in the desert was my favourite. Just shows how the robots are vastly superior to humans . Everyone's favourite robot, Optimus Prime.

Thank you.

Is this the end.

Dear all

More friends resigning. Aisah's last day was 2 days back on thursday. Today was the last working day for Suew, June and Cindy. Good luck and take care of yourselves. Received news another staff had just submitted his/her resignation letter. Now I'm able to count how many of us are left.

Even Sadiq left a comment on another blog, saying we should all leave and not look back. If only its that easy.
