Bali 11-15 Nov 2007

Dear all

Reluctantly flew back to Singapore yesterday night, after 5 days in Bali. It was sad leaving the beautiful place called Bali, eventhough we went to a few places only.

1st day
At Changi airport.

Arrive in Bali at 2135hrs. An old friend, Bagus picked us up and we headed straight to Samsara hotel at Kuta town. We passed by the beach on the way to the hotel. When we saw the waves rushing to the beach, we were captivated. In the darkness illuminated only by the moonlight, the sea stretches out as far as the eye can see. The hotel is located in a dark lane. At first glance, it looks deserted and eerie, like in the movie Vacancy. After checking in, we headed out again for Dinner. Bagus brought us to this food court at Kuta beach. A good meal to start our holiday.

2nd day
Had breakfast at the hotel. Quite a good spread considering the 3 star status. In the morning, the hotel looks nicer also. After breakfast, we then ventured out.

The long lane from the Samsara hotel's entrance to the main road.

On the main road itself, there are many shops, stalls and boutiques selling their items. There are branded items as well as cheap goods all at the same place. The hotel we stayed in is located near to the 2002 Bali bomb site. A few minutes walk away, we reached the monument, built in honour of those who perished.

We somehow came across Popis Lane ( I called it Popiah lane), the famous street in Bali. Throughout the street, there are again many stalls and shops selling their goods. After a long walk (and shopping of course) later, we finally saw the beach. It was so nice and was a truly different experience to see. Slacked a while at the beach before continuing our exploration. We came across a familiar dude, Ronald McDonald.
Surf's up dude.
Again we headed to another part of Popis lane. Bought some items along the way before heading back to the hotel. While dearie went for her massage, I slacked around the hotel. Bagus picked us up later in the afternoon. We checked out of Samsara and make our way to Conrad Bali. Woohoo. Along the way, bagus brought us to Jimbaran beach to have a look. Bagus then brought us to a cultural village (sorry but forgot the name). They are constructing a very big statue here. Which is located on top of a hill. It's a long climb to the top. After that, we headed to Conrad Bali.

View from the lobby bar.
Our room.

Please strictly ignore the model on the bed.

Our room service meal with 50% F/B staff discount, hehe. Dearie was so happy to see the sea.

Later part of the holiday to be continued. Will be updated shortly.
