Shinjuku Incident

Shinjuku Incident

Jackie Chan's weakest but strongest movie also. Weak coz it's not the usual Jackie movie where he knows martial arts, managing to subdue his opponents easily, adding some comedy as well to the movie. Strongest coz he manage to potray a simple street guy in this movie. Totally refreshing. 4/5 ratings.

Movie reviews

Watched the following movies recently.

Fast and Furious 4

Action-packed, starring the first original stars. While the plot was good, the car scenes were lacking. The ending however slightly disappointing personally. But still a must watch for the babes and cars. Ratings 3.5 /5.

Knowing

Great performance by Nicholas Cage as usual. Beginning of the movie was great, mid-movie kind of laggy but still keeps the viewers guessing. Ending was out of this world (and I really mean it). Read up on your Adam and Eve story and you will understand the ending better. Ratings 4/5.

Taken

'I will find you. And I will kill you'
Fantastic of the lot. Superb performance by Liam Neeson. For those spy-thriller lovers, this movie is a must watch. This movie is NOT unreallistic as other James Bond movies. It's mostly a clean action-packed bare-hands fighting scene. Only lose out slightly to the Jason Bourne series. Ratings 4.5/5.

Sniper

Dear all

Watched the movie 'Sniper' before my midnight shift last night. Seriously, have never ever really came out from watching a movie feeling so negative about a movie. The movie SUCKS BIG TIME. So unrealistic and illogical.

Firstly, the movie quality was very bad, like it's a low-budget movie. Some scenes were also unrealistic. For example;

1) Raining heavily, policeman on patrol BUT without any raincoat(????). They were drenched wet in the movie, what was the director thinking.

2) The snipers training to shoot bare-bodied. Not that I'm jealous of their bodies, BUT which special operations force trains like that. Snipers are supposed to blend into their environment, using foliage and cover to conceal themselves. Without any top clothes on, how to blend in.

3) A scene whereby their fellow comrade had fallen. Flag was at half-mast and a salute was given in honour BUT without their peak-caps. In military or police tradition, a salute can only be given when their caps are worn.

4) Lone sniper against a whole assault team. Assault team charging in an open field towards the sniper. The sniper picked off the assault team easily one by one. In reality, which commander would send an assault team charging in an open field against a sniper (so called top-sniper in the movie).

5) The team of good snipers assaulting into a warehouse to search for the bad snipers. Fair enough. However, the snipers were carrying sniper rifles instead of assault rifles. Snipers shoot with long rifles at long distances. Snipers pick their targets from far and provide cover for the assault team. A sniper rifle is also much heavier and more delicate than an assault rifle. An assault/forced entry into a building is done by the assault team and not by snipers. Where's the logic by the director with the snipers doing the assault.

Overall, this is the worst movie ever I watched in a movie hall and I felt cheated parting with the money to watch it. The movie plot was not bad. So much hype about Edison Chen for this movie but really nothing special. Out of 5, only deserve half a star.

The negative lists could go on but will only make the movie worse.

Subaru rocks

OK

Here I was travelling home from work at about 0200hrs on my bike riding at about 100km/h on the middle lane of a 3 lane expressway when I spotted a pair of headlights on my right side mirror. Less than a second later, that 'pair of headlights' rocketed past me. And I really mean it's like a rocket, I was really damn surprised. In my more than 10 years of riding, no other vehicles had overtaken me at such speed. BUT in that second that the car rocketed past me, I could only make out the Subaru words on its rear, guess must have been a WRX.

Woohoo.

14th April 2009

Dear all

Can't think of any other title for this post. Was busy at work earlier, with 2 VIP events. One of them with 14 Ambassadors. As expected, the usual 2 suspects caused mayhem, like always.

Newbies arrived at work finally, boosting up the team strength. Hope they will last long. The current team will not last much longer with 2 existing staff leaving soon. Anyway, my direct boss is on leave these few days but surprisingly, the top bosses have not find fault with us yet.

Hope I didn't speak too soon.
