Bali again

3rd day

I woke up early but dearie is still in bed. Sleepyhead.I then left the room and snap pictures of the hotel. A Balinese woman delivering supplies. We got ready and left the hotel. Dearie feeling like a celebrity here. Our first stop, Kuta Beach. Woohoo. And then, we ate at McDonalds at Kuta beach. Notice the ice-cream in the coke. Yummy. We walked around Kuta area till we came to Hard Rock Megastore. Dearie bought some shirts from there. Their bag is very cool. Walked around Kuta Square. Got a new cap from Quiksilver. Yay. The shops along Kuta area. It's also damn hot there. We left for the hotel after some shopping. Back at the hotel, we laze at the pool. In the evening, we headed to Jimbaran Beach for seafood to celebrate dearie's birthday. The sky is so nice. Coconut. Look at the amount of food that we had. Back at the hotel, I sang the birthday song for dearie. Birthday cake compliments of the hotel.Birthday gal making her wish. Happy birthday dear.
Stay tuned for the next 2 days.

Bali 11-15 Nov 2007

Dear all

Reluctantly flew back to Singapore yesterday night, after 5 days in Bali. It was sad leaving the beautiful place called Bali, eventhough we went to a few places only.

1st day
At Changi airport.

Arrive in Bali at 2135hrs. An old friend, Bagus picked us up and we headed straight to Samsara hotel at Kuta town. We passed by the beach on the way to the hotel. When we saw the waves rushing to the beach, we were captivated. In the darkness illuminated only by the moonlight, the sea stretches out as far as the eye can see. The hotel is located in a dark lane. At first glance, it looks deserted and eerie, like in the movie Vacancy. After checking in, we headed out again for Dinner. Bagus brought us to this food court at Kuta beach. A good meal to start our holiday.

2nd day
Had breakfast at the hotel. Quite a good spread considering the 3 star status. In the morning, the hotel looks nicer also. After breakfast, we then ventured out.

The long lane from the Samsara hotel's entrance to the main road.

On the main road itself, there are many shops, stalls and boutiques selling their items. There are branded items as well as cheap goods all at the same place. The hotel we stayed in is located near to the 2002 Bali bomb site. A few minutes walk away, we reached the monument, built in honour of those who perished.

We somehow came across Popis Lane ( I called it Popiah lane), the famous street in Bali. Throughout the street, there are again many stalls and shops selling their goods. After a long walk (and shopping of course) later, we finally saw the beach. It was so nice and was a truly different experience to see. Slacked a while at the beach before continuing our exploration. We came across a familiar dude, Ronald McDonald.
Surf's up dude.
Again we headed to another part of Popis lane. Bought some items along the way before heading back to the hotel. While dearie went for her massage, I slacked around the hotel. Bagus picked us up later in the afternoon. We checked out of Samsara and make our way to Conrad Bali. Woohoo. Along the way, bagus brought us to Jimbaran beach to have a look. Bagus then brought us to a cultural village (sorry but forgot the name). They are constructing a very big statue here. Which is located on top of a hill. It's a long climb to the top. After that, we headed to Conrad Bali.

View from the lobby bar.
Our room.

Please strictly ignore the model on the bed.

Our room service meal with 50% F/B staff discount, hehe. Dearie was so happy to see the sea.

Later part of the holiday to be continued. Will be updated shortly.

Midnight shift

Dear all

Friday night was the day when I really earned my pay. Total of 6 log entries, on a midnight shift. Tough luck. Just now though was a breeze, phew. Other than my midnight duties, was practically researching on my upcoming Bali trip on the internet the whole shift.

Just now also, met up with a guest who would always call me directly whenever he wanted to make a room reservation. Surprise, surprise, he gave me a S$50 tip, hehe. Syukur Alhamdullilah (praise be to god). However when I met my mum and little brother after work at the MRT station, I gave the S$50 to my mum for groceries. I'm such a filial son, hehe.

In the morning before finishing work, escorted an artiste for his departure. Not a normal artiste, I kind of adore this one. Of the many artiste which I have come across, I watched his movies a lot. I must say though thats he's very humble.

A colleague is getting married today and another colleague invited me to his Hari Raya open house. On top of that, my friend asked me to go to the photography trade show at Suntec. Hope I can wake up on time but still have enough rest.

ps: Paintball outing will be updated soon. Don't worry guys.

Facebok

Dear all

I'm damn addicted to facebook now especially the applications of Attack, Pirates and Slayers. All thanks to Nickole.

Anyway, just a recap of work today. 5 log entries and 1 sarcastic mail sums up my day. After work, went to the hospital to check on the pain at my chest, all thanks to teambuilding. Thankfully, the doctor said that my heart looks normal. However, he cautioned that it could be the lungs and informed me to go to the doctor immediately if the pain did not subside. Current diagnosis is muscle tear.

Also an update on the proposed paintball excursion. Here's the breakdown.
1 box of 2000 paintball pellets is S$250. Per entry per person is S$15. So lets take ten person for example. Total cost will be $15 (entry fee)+$25 (200 pellets each). Gears all provided however, the only downside is players have to use own attire. Currently, theres 6 guys and 1 lady who's interested. Once confirmed, I will send in the enquiry. Oh and the venue is at Orchid Country Club at Yishun.

Teambuilding

Dear all

Went for my company's teambuilding today. Body aching and bruises all over. Participated in many games, overcome hurdles and solving of clues. BUT I had lots of fun, especially the game of paintball. 1st match my team won however 2nd match we lost. I'm the last man still 'alive' in the game in the 2nd match versus 5 of the opposing team. Thankfully, they shoot the target instead of me. Can't bear to think of the pain if you're shot by the paint balls. Had heard many horror stories and saw the bruises when shot by one. Phew.

End of the day, my team won, yay. Seriously, I'm still wondering how we won.

And recently, I'm addicted to facebook. Nickole introduced it to me but I had my doubts about it in the first place. Now I'm not turning back.

Me and a friend from executive floor will be organising a paintball match soon, hopefully in Singapore. Can say I'm addicted already. It will not be cheap though. From what I know, each paintball bullets cost 50cents. Anyone interested?

Yesterday

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, i believe in yesterday.Suddenly,
i'm not half the man i used to be,
There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

Why she had to go i don't know she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong, now i long for yesterday.

Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play.
Now i need a place to hide away.
Oh, i believe in yesterday.
Mm mm mm mm mm.

A nice Beatles song

The Unit

Rented the drama series 'The Unit' yesterday and watched it from 1st till 13th episode the whole night till 9am+ in the morning. After watching the show, I have this sudden urge to buy walkie-talkies, not sure why also.It explains the life and problems of the soldiers and families of an ultra-secret special forces group in the US. Recommended to watch.

Life

Sometimes, an act of impulse can have undesireable effects.

If only life is a lot simpler. Like the days when work was still simple, reporting to work and leaving on the dot. Having managers to answer for me instead of answering for others now.

October

Dear all

1st October, Happy children's day. The days to my Bali trip are drawing near. Can't wait for this month to be over. Was on midnite shift last night.

Had a little fire-fighting exercise just now. Over 50+ firefighters and many fire trucks and vehicles took part in the exercise. Pity those firefighters climbing all the way to level 22 to put out the 'fire'. All I can say is, its not easy being a firefighter with all the equipments on their back.

And to dearie, I got to play with their torchlights. Woohoo.

Back to work

Dear all

Stayed home on my last off day due to heavy rain. Only managed to cut my hair sometime at night. My off day wasted just like that.

Was back to afternoon shift yesterday, busy following up on paperworks the whole day. Received a guest complaint near to the end of the shift, it happens. After work, went for supper at Bencoolen street. Nice place to sit around coz of the nice music. Food was good also.

Hope today will be a better day at work. Gonna stop spending money now, my finances running low.

Off day after a long week

Dear all

Very busy weekend due to COMEX. The famous artiste and his entourage had left yesterday so nothing much to do but just to deal with the high number of arrivals. My family stayed over the weekend using my 5 years complimentary stay. Damn havoc my mum, I'm like her personal assistant during her stay. And my friends from room service sent up tons of fruits. End of the day, I was crazily eating bananas like monkeys. Confirmed will have no constipation.

Something funny happened on Sunday. A Prince from Brunei was arriving at the hotel and we were waiting to welcome him at the driveway. When the embassy car arrived, my 2 colleagues mistook the prince's PA as himself. Thank goodness I recognised the prince and salvaged the situation by pointing out to them in time. Phew, can't blame them also. The PA dressed smarter than the prince, haha.

After work, slept at locker.....again. It's quite comfortable though, trust me. Intended to sleep for an hour and then head home. Instead I slept from 0130 hrs to ...............0600hrs. Haha, I can start the next shift already liao.

Gonna cut my hair today and then take my camera out and play with it.

Thank you.

Promotion

Dear all

Started work early today at 12 noon as a colleague's on MC. When I stepped in to the workplace, Frankie was smiling excited when he saw me. Can't blame him, he has been working for 13 hours from 11 pm the previous day. Work today was busy, with the shortage of seniors and cashiers at the desk and also the movement of the famous artiste currently in house. Had to chase many fans out of the hotel. Another problem was the traffic and parking situation around the vicinity of the hotel due to COMEX. And lastly, the DPM Professor S.Jayakumar came to attend to a dinner function. All of us was waiting for his arrival at the driveway and security was on full standby. Unexpectedly, he arrived via the rear entrance. Very the low-profile, hehe.

My boss called me to her office sometime in the evening conveying the news of my promotion. Her word of advice, to raise my standard higher. She must be hinting that I've slacked these few weeks. Anyway time to pull my socks up. Yippee.
